WMS AT OTHER SITES

While we offer excellent facilities in Mid-Wales there are times when training at your own site, or place of employment has unique added value in terms of convenience, building skills in a familiar environment and/or managing problems unique to your location or situation. As such WMS can provide training at suitable sites around the UK and overseas for professional clients, private clients and for shooting clubs.

PROFESSIONAL CLIENTS

Clients such as zoos and wildlife parks, conservation organisations, and expedition guides can benefit from training at their own location which means site-specific, risk assessment and local considerations can be easily met. WMS regularly delivers training at such sites around the UK for numerous zoo and conservation organisations and personnel and has also provide specialist instruction in Svalbard and the Netherlands for arctic expedition guides, and in South Africa for wilderness expedition guides. This training can incorporate local risk assessment, learning to deal with problems unique to your location or situation and building a safe forward plan executed to best effect. WMS always operates discreetly and can provide evening training when sites are closed to members of the public.

PRIVATE CLIENTS IN THE UK

Pashley Farm Range, Hastings, East Sussex

Owned by Tim Pilbeam, a renowned shooting journalist and Fieldsports Channel TV presenter, this range offers covered firing for zeroing, a variety of steel targets, and walk-and-stalk type shooting out to 400m over rolling farmland. The facilities are field-based and informal, yet safe and appropriate for rifle training at sensible ranges. WMS has provided several successful training days at this range and can offer one-to-one, two-to-one, small groups and masterclasses at this location.

Your own shooting area/range

WMS Firearms Training has travelled far and wide to deliver training. We can come to your estate, farm, range or hunting area in order to empower you to make the shot for the safe, accurate and humane results you want. We can provide firearms, ammunition and targets or use your own. We can provide bespoke 1:1 or 2:1 training, or work with larger group, for example your farm or estate staff.

PRIVATE CLIENTS OVERSEAS

Private clients can book one-to-one, two-to-one, and small group training at their own facilities or ranges overseas. Andrew Venables is also available to accompany private clients on overseas trips; we have recently provided training and guidance to private clients in Spain and South Africa.

SHOOTING CLUBS

WMS is increasingly being booked to provide training at our facilities in Mid-Wales for shooting clubs and can also travel to your club range to provide training in situ to your members. These trips can be based around improving general skills or working on a specific element of shooting. Visits by WMS to a shooting club can also incorporate an evening talk on a specific subject.

The National Shooting Centre, Bisley, Surrey

As an NRA Trade Member WMS can use some of the shooting facilities at the National Shooting Centre in Bisley, Surrey, to provide training under our own commercial operating procedures. This means clients do not need NRA membership to shoot with us at this location. Training can be provided at certain ranges on Bisley Camp itself and at Chobham Ridges, a short drive away. This offers shooting on to reactive steel targets from 150 -1,170 yards over challenging terrain, much the same as in Wales, where wind and elevation combine to test the skills of even the most experienced shots.

The Bisley location does place some constraints on the calibres which can be used. Calibres with energy levels in excess of .308 are subject to High Muzzle Energy regulations requiring zero checks and proof of ballistic inputs. .338 calibre, notably .338LM is subject of a ban on use currently, as are .50BMG, .375 Cheytac, .408 Cheytac, etc.

This location is also restricted in terms of operating hours; shooting starts at 08.30 and ends at 15.30 or 16.00 depending on the time of year. In addition there is mandatory pause for shooting over lunchtime.
