EXTREME LONG RANGE AT WMS HQ WALES 2026

We’re in the process of gauging interest for group ELR days/weekends for 2026 so now’s the time to let us know if you fancy stretching your skills and kit. Not got a group? Don’t worry, let us know what you’re interested in and we can make up groups of clients with similar levels of experience and kit.
WMS ELR Group Days can be booked in two forms:
100-1,500m DAYS FOR GROUPS OF 6-8 ATTENDEES
These days are for rifles with sufficient BC, energy and available scope elevation to dial in out to 1,500m. This is generally 18-25 MILS or 60-75 MOA up from zero.
This takes us into the 6.5, 7mm and .300 Magnum class including .338LM and similar calibres. 6.5 Creedmoor can make it in easy conditions but .308 will be out of the running at this stage.
The shooting, spotting and learning out to these ranges is available within 500m of our Hesketh Hut Range HQ and the zero targets and 4x4s can reach the firing points.
Shooting will focus on a 100m/100y zero session, checking everything is tight and sorted, then out to 500m, 1,000m and 1,500m. There is clean signature for impacts around all the targets making this a practical, rewarding and achievable day.
Cost: £200 per person per day inc VAT for a group of 6-8.
100-2,000m+ DAYS FOR GROUPS OF 4-6 ATTENDEES
For rifles with sufficient BC, energy and available scope elevation to dial out to the range required.
Generally this takes us into the .300 Norma, .300PRC, .338LM, .338XC and similar calibres. 7mmPRC and 7mmSTW can make it in easy conditions, potentially. The rifles/scope/ammo combinations must be capable of dialling the full elevation required. This is generally 22-30 MILS or 70-90 MOA up from zero. Some vertical aim off is possible but more than 4-5 MILS is really stretching it.
The day will start at 100m with a zero check and full functional check of all bedding bolts, screws, mounts, etc. Once zeroed we will visit the 1,000m and 1,500m firing points in the morning session. After lunch all kit and persons need to board the Softrak vehicle for the cross-country trip to the 1,650m and 2,000m firing points in the afternoon session.
This 1,650m and 2,000m option is an adventure. Clients must be able to climb into the Softrak cab or onto the load area 1-1.5m off the ground. Normal 4×4 vehicles cannot make the trip. We have done this lots of times, it is slow, safe and a memorable event in itself. The views are epic as is the shooting.
ELR shooting days are for clients with some previous experience of long-range shooting, and their own suitable firearms and ammo.
Cost: £240 per person per day inc VAT and Soft-trak transport for a group of 4-6.
